Crofton Kiwanis Holiday Ornament

Kiwanis Holiday Ornament Has Arrived
An annual local tradition continues as the Crofton Kiwanis Club announces their 2009 holiday ornaments have arrived and are available for sale. This year’s ornament features another familiar local scene – the beautiful azaleas in bloom at Crofton Town Hall.
The tradition began over a decade ago, when Crofton resident Marnie Fallon attended an international Kiwanis conference and discovered the holiday ornament idea. “The Girl Scouts had done a similar glass ornament previously, but had stopped. I thought it would be a good way to share our love of Crofton while making people more aware of our organization,” Mrs. Fallon explained.
The first ornament featured the Crofton gates. Other ornaments have included scenes like the holiday tree lighting ceremony, the cherry blossoms along the Parkway, as well as familiar sites like Lake Louise, Linthicum Walks, and Swann Park.
The cost of the ornament is only $8, the approximate cost of production and shipping. “This is not a fundraiser for us,” Mrs. Fallon said. “We just want to promote our community.”
For those interested in purchasing this year’s (or previous years’) ornaments, Kiwanis members will be at the Crofton Town Club’s Craft Fair on Saturday, September 26, on the grounds near the Crofton Country Club. Purchasing information is also available on the Kiwanis website at www.croftonkiwanis.org.
